Vithura

Production Designer

A Short film
by Joseph Dominic

Festival Debut at Bengaluru International Film Festival 2025

Vithura was another special project because it was made by a close friend. Set between Delhi and a small town in Kerala, the film follows an architect who returns home only to realise that progress isn't always about replacing the old with the new. It is a quiet reflection on identity, belonging, and learning to respect the wisdom of a place.

As someone deeply interested in architecture and regional aesthetics, I found the story especially meaningful. It reminded me that design doesn't exist in isolation. It has to respond to its surroundings, its climate, its people, and the history that already exists within a space.

Working on this film was a chance to engage with those ideas in a very thoughtful way. It reinforced my belief that the most successful spaces aren't always the most contemporary ones, but the ones that feel honest to where they belong. Like many of my favourite projects, Vithura was as much about the people as it was about the film. Working with friends made the process collaborative, comfortable, and filled with trust, allowing us to focus on telling the story with care.
