A Short film by Kashyap Shangari & Swagata Naik
Post Production
Missing Cat in the Box was my first short film and, like many of the projects I've been fortunate to be a part of, it was made by a dear friend. At its heart, the film is about the emotional baggage we carry, the stories we tell ourselves, and the fragile line between healing others and healing ourselves.
It was a challenging project. I had just one assistant, and between the two of us, we handled a large part of the work ourselves. The long hours and constant problem solving pushed us to be resourceful, but they also made every small achievement feel incredibly rewarding. One of the things I remember most fondly is the people. We were all friends coming together to make a film because we believed in it. That sense of trust, shared purpose, and willingness to step in wherever needed created an atmosphere that made even the toughest days
enjoyable.
The film is yet to be released, and I'm looking forward to the day it finds its audience. Whatever its journey ahead, it will always remain a special project for me. It was my first short film, and it reminded me that some of the most meaningful work comes from a small group of people united by a shared love for storytelling.
